A damaged transmission pan may sound a simple problem, but not a damaged transmission system. A damaged transmission assembly is a scary thing. Understand, though, that a damaged pan can eventually lead to a damaged transmission. Why? The answer is simple: oil loss. The transmission pan is designed to carry the transmission oil that circulates throughout the transmission parts as they work, lubricating and cooling them. Transmission lubrication and cooling are crucial to the proper operation and condition of the transmission components. Without them, friction and overheating will eventually damage the transmission parts. Knowing that, you must know that everything starts with a well-functioning transmission pan. Inspect the pan regularly to ensure that it's always in top shape-no dent or any damage that can cause leak. Most pans today are crafted from strong materials. However, they have one particular weak section-the area where you'll find the seal separating the pan's upper and lower parts. Over time, the seal may crack and allow the transmission oil to escape. Another cause of leak in the pan is a loose bolt. All the bolts must be tightened to the right torque level. Incorrect tightening can cause leaks. Making a transmission pan inspection to determine the source of a leak is easy. In most instances, you might just need to replace the gasket or retighten the bolt. In some cases, however, the pan might be damaged. Whether it's a new gasket or pan that you need, Car Stuff is here! Shop now!
