Four-wheel drive vehicles are a lot of fun-until you get stuck in four-wheel drive mode. The problem's probably caused by the transfer case motor. No thanks to the brilliant minds that thought pulling on a stick shifter is lame compared to pushing an electric switch. They probably figured that having one too many stick shifts to work with was just too much for the human brain to handle. They were probably just thinking of how to blend the system in with automatic transmissions. Think about it. Motors are electrical devices. When water and dirt get in there, such as when you're driving off road and there's heavy rain, expect the transfer case motor to naturally malfunction. And of course, where there's a motor, there's got to be a sensor wired to it telling it when to start running or not, plus the power plug wiring harness. So yes, a motor does complicate things a lot. Again, the worst part about all this is when the transfer case motor suddenly fails and you're stuck in four-wheel drive mode. You'll have no choice but to drive slowly all the way home. Your car's fuel economy is going to suffer, too.. Tell you what-visit Car Stuff now and we'll hook you up with a replacement motor.
