Plymouth Water Pump Description

A leak in your Plymouth water pump can have a slow, deadly effect on your engine. You can incur a lot of internal engine damage by running your car without coolant. Or, the leaking fluid can eat away at other parts in your engine, including the lubricant on the shaft bearing, or the fan or belt pulley. That can result in a catastrophic failure of the radiator, or other parts that are injured by a shaft or belt flying around under the hood. To find the leak, ask your mechanic to do a pressure check on the cooling system. Or have a little fun with your black light: Pour ultraviolet sensitive dye in the coolant fluid, and then run the engine. Shine a black light over the engine to see signs of the coolant liquid. Change your coolant every two to three years, since the coolant losses its anticorrosive powers over time. The most common location of a leak is around the gasket seal; consider replacing your pump at the same time. By ensuring you have enough coolant and water in your system, and checking your hoses regularly for leaks, you can lengthen the life of your Plymouth water pump.
