When your mechanic tries to push a fuel injector cleaning service on you, think carefully before agreeing to the service for your Mercury fuel injectors. A fuel injector cleaning service can be a temporary solution - or not even address the real problem. These deposits are part of the normal operations of an engine, so detergents are added to gasoline to help keep the injectors clean. Those detergents can only work so far, especially for cars that driven mostly for short distances. Some of those additives in your fuel include polysibutylamine, polyisbutylene succinimide and polyisobutylene phenylamine. However, over time, these additives can contribute to the formation of combustion chamber deposits that will clog your injectors. These deposits tend to clog older models the most; they will collect in the combustion chamber, fuel injectors, valves and other parts of the fuel system. The residue is mostly deposits left over from the gasoline, which is a mixture of many different hydrocarbons. However, consider whether a cleaning service is the solution for your Mercury fuel injectors. If they are deteriorated because of the forces of time, heat and stress, then a cleaning service will not solve the ultimate issue. That can be addressed by totally replacing your Mercury fuel injectors with a new set purchased here, from our line of brand-name, recognized manufacturers of fuel injectors.
