Just because your Jeep can take you anywhere doesn't mean you have to freeze while you get there, right? Of course not-that's what the Jeep heater core is for. On cold days out on the trail, all you have to do is roll up your windows (or fold them down, whichever the case may be), dial up some warmth, and your Jeep heater core ensures that the air entering the passenger compartment (from the vents, at least) is as warm as possible. How does the Jeep heater core pull off this magical feat? Contrary to popular opinion, the Jeep heater core is not electrically operated. Nor does the Jeep heater core run on gasoline, at least not directly. Instead, the Jeep heater core works like a radiator in an old house. The engine coolant acts as the water, the engine acts as the boiler, and the Jeep heater core transfers the heat from the coolant into the airstream that flows into the passenger compartment. The nice thing is that using your Jeep heater core has no adverse affect on your fuel economy, so crank it up. In fact if your engine is overheating, you can gain some additional cooling capacity by turning on the heat, since the Jeep heater core acts as a small supplemental radiator. The downside to the Jeep heater core design is that it's susceptible to leaks and clogs just like your regular radiator. Since it's located inside the passenger compartment, a leaky Jeep heater core can make a mess of your carpet and other interior components in a hurry. Likewise, a clogged Jeep heater core can burst, spraying hot coolant everywhere-or it can just leave you cold on a frigid morning. Either way, you need to address a Jeep heater core problem as soon as you become aware of it. Purchase a new Jeep heater core from us and install it (or have it installed) immediately. Not only will your fingers thank you next January, but your Jeep will be much more enjoyable without puddles of green coolant on the floors.
