Your fun and sporty Isuzu window regulator is starting to feel the effects of all that off-road driving you have subjected your vehicle to ... or the extreme elements. When dirt and moisture get into the window channel, eventually the lubrication will suffer among all those moving parts, channels and gaskets. At that point, one of the components in your Isuzu window regulator will begin to fail. There are two types of basic window regulator design: arm-and-sector and drum-and-cable. Most window regulators in a power window system use a small motor that is efficient and compact in design. Most window regulators also depend on a linkage, a mechanical plate and spur gears. The linkage holds the window. The mechanical plate moves the window up and down. A worm gear, working with the spur gears, keeps the parts moving. If you have a manual window system, the same kind of design is used but a crank handle turns the gear. When you plan to diagnose and fix the window regulator, be aware that the time and labor required to open up the door panel means that it is sensible to replace the entire regulator as a set, instead of attempting to fix each broken component. When you replace your Isuzu window regulator, don't forget to lubricate it thoroughly with a silicon lubricant as a preventative measure.
