Geo Starter Description

When you suspect that your Geo starter is failing because your car does not start, do some troubleshooting first to pinpoint the cause. Check your starter wires, relay, battery or battery terminals to see if they are corroded or loose. Although a faulty starter might be to blame for your starting problems, it’s most often due to low battery voltage, poor electrical connections at the battery or a failed relay or fusible link. To check if you have a dead battery or corroded battery terminals: turn on your headlights and interior lights, and then try to start your car. If the lights are dim, or you hear a clack or chattering sound in your starter's solenoid, then the problem might be with the battery. If the problem is with the solenoid, then you will not hear the sound of the clicking when you turn your key in the ignition. Other reasons for a non-starting car: dirty or loose battery cables, or a faulty charging system. If you have eliminated all the other options, and your car is still not starting (and your Geo starter has over 50,000 miles on it) then replace it with a new Geo starter as a preventative maintenance measure.
