How long has it been since your car's last oil change? Can't remember? Then you're in a heap of trouble. Engine oil usually lasts for as long as three months, or 5,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. Past that point, the oil starts breaking down and loses capacity to lubricate. Although there are so-called 'synthetic' oils that last twice as long, these oils will still break down after the said period. So you have to change the oil at that point. And, in case it's your first time, don't forget to change the oil filter as well. Use a Full oil filter. If you're not familiar with the Full brand, it actually originated in Thailand. Later, the brand was sold to the MAHLE Group, a global manufacturer of engine parts and filters based in Germany. So whatever rumors you hear about the brand's quality are no longer true. Despite being made in Thailand, the brand now has full financial and technological support from an internationally recognized automotive parts company. So expect no less than high quality and durability from each of their products. They not only make oil filters, but fuel and air filters as well. Don't be surprised to find Full filters being used by most repair shops on both domestic and import makes and models. If your mechanic recommends Full parts, trust him because he knows what he's doing. Going back, rarely do mechanics forget about the oil filter when changing an engine's oil. Doing so will shorten the life of your car's new oil because the old filter won't be able to fully retain impurities floating around. Or worse, the old filter can get clogged and block the flow of oil resulting in engine damage. So don't risk it. Order a Full oil filter here at Car Stuff.
