Alfa Romeo Automobiles S.p.A. is a renowned Italian manufacturer of expensive sports cars. It started in Milan on June 24, 1910 and was owned by an Italian state holding company Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale from 1932 to 1986. However, before it was named Alfa Romeo became, it was named SAID short for Societa Anonima Italiana Darracq. It is a French automobile firm, owned by Alexandre Darracq together with Cavaliere Ugo Stella, an aristocrat from Milan. Then on February 2007, Alfa Romeo became a part of the Fiat Group together with Fiat Automobiles, Lancia Automobiles S.p.A., and Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles S.p.A. Under the Fiat Group. Alfa Romeo has been able to increase its lineup production of Alfa Romeos, Alfa Romeo parts and Alfa Romeo accessories.

Every brand needs an emblem that represents them. For Alfa Romeo the emblem was created by a draughtsman by the name of Romano Cattaneo and Guiseppe Merosi. It was said that the inspiration for the Alfa Romeo emblem was derived from the great Visconti family's red cross and biscione, the child devouring serpent, emblazoned at the door of the great Castello Sforzesco. However, it was Guiseppe Merosi, a designer who did incorporated emblem of Milan with Visconti family in a circular motif, with a dark blue metallic border ring containing the words ALFA-ROMEO and MILANO separated by two Savoy dynasty knots. The laurel wreath was added after the P2 won the inaugural Automobile World Championship in 1925. This same emblem is also seen in authentic Alfa Romeo accessories and in all Alfa Romeo parts.

Alfa Romeo was involved in racing since 1911. It has competed in the different categories of motorsports such as Grand Prix motor racing, touring car racing, Formula One, sportscar racing, and rallies. It competed as a constructor, an engine supplier or as a private entry. The very first racing car that Alfa Romeo produces was in the year 1913, which won the 1925 Grand Prix.
